The Ford Windstar appeared in the mid-1990 with front-wheel drive with designated LX, SE, SEL and limited versions. A minivan designed for family use it gave decent service. The model had two generations with the second generation a much improved model addressing issues from the previous generation. It eventually evolved into a sporty minivan in 1999.
A 3.0-liter V6 with 150-horsepower or a 200 hp 3.8-liter V6 powered most of these minivans. Later Windstar models from 1999 to 2004 became known for its safety and convenience features with high marks on crash test scores. Models that have the driver side sliding door with second and third row seats on rollers offer the most maneuverability. After 2000, the suspension, transmission, air conditioning and brakes became upgraded.
