The Ford 500 was a mid-sized sedan introduce in 2005. The 500 was a welcomed layer in Fords lineup. Prior to the 500 Fords focus had been primarily on its signature mainstay SUVs and trucks. The 500 was its attempt to capture drivers in the sedan market.
The Ford Five Hundred came with a spacious 40 inches of legroom in the front and rear in addition to a gargantuan 21 cubic-feet of trunk space. It came equipped with amenities unfamiliar to sedan drivers such as rear park sensors, navigation system, and rear DVD capabilities.
Aside from its spacious design and amenities the Ford 500s true reputation was in its safety. It scored very high and even some near perfect scores with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The 500 was retired after its 2 year tenure in 2007. The 500 is still considered in an innovator in safety for sedans. Many of its features are still used in Ford sedans today.
