With its reintroduction in 1999, the Chrysler 300M became Motor Trend’s Car of the Year adding to the legacy created by the original Chrysler 300 Muscle Car (which was produced from 1955-1965). This American beauty continued to gain prominence, earning a spot on Car and Driver Magazine’s 10 best list for 1999/2000. The 300Ms innovative body design, state of the art transverse drive train configuration, and stunning good looks made it one of America’s most popular and best selling vehicles throughout its six years of production (from 1999-2004).
Key improvements include:
- The use of four valves per cylinder.
- A separate intake manifold setup (crossover design) for each cylinder head.
- A larger cylinder bore.
- A timing belt to synchronize the camshafts.
In 2002 Chrysler offered the 300M Special, which featured carbon fiber interior trim accents, high performance dual exhaust, and 18” wheels and tires. The 300M Platinum package was made available in 2004.
