The Chevrolet Tahoe made its debut in 1995, but the vehicle itself was actually sold for several years prior. In 1992, GMC introduced the Yukon. It’s Chevrolet equivalent, which would eventually become the Tahoe, was known as the full-size Blazer.
The Tahoe exploded in popularity in the late 1990s and early-2000s, but began to decline in favor of crossover utility vehicles when U.S. gas prices hit record highs.
The Chevy Tahoe was redesigned for its third-generation in 2007. It is based on the Silverado GMT-900 platform which it also shares with the Yukon, Suburban and other full-size GM trucks and SUVs.
