How to Replace the Headlights on the C4 Corvette

The C4 Corvette was the fourth-generation Corvette. This model was produced between 1984 and 1996.

Pop open the hood and turn the Corvette’s engine off. Sit inside the vehicle. Turn the headlight switch to the “On” position, and then immediately turn it to the “Parking Light” position. You’ll need to do this quick enough to catch the pop-up headlights in the partially-up position. You’ll be unable to replace them if they are fully open or closed. Step out of the car and inspect the headlights. If they aren’t partially opened, try again until you can get them in the right position.

Remove the two Phillips screws on either side of the front part of the headlight. Then remove the two Phillips screws on either side of the pop-up headlight cover. Reach your arm behind the headlight and push the cover forward to remove it. With the cover removed, you’ll have access to the headlight-mounting screws.

Remove the four Phillips screws from the headlight. There is one in each corner. Don’t remove either of the two larger screws on each side — these are the adjustment screws.
Pull the headlight and its plastic retainer our. Unplug the unit from the back. Plug the new headlight into the headlight connection.
Insert the new headlight into place, and then attached the retainer. Insert and replace the four Phillips screws. Tighten them well.
Push the headlight cover back onto the headlight. Replace the four screws.
